Getting ready for '08

Thanks, Nades for sharing this on your blog. It's my turn to answer it... hehe :)

1. Will you be looking for a new job?
No plans as of the moment. :)

2. Will you be looking / waiting for a new relationship?
What do you think? haha. :)

3. Will you be looking for a new school?
I really want to take up finance and/or accounting classes to improve my "numbers" skill, if there's such a thing. haha. I also want to enroll in piano classes (in a piano school hehe) because I miss playing the piano.

4. What will you do differently in '08?
-Be more serious with my life..... e.g. GROW UP. :)
- Get some independence in my system.... I will try!
- Be less emotional.

5. New Years Resolution?
Less usage of my credit card! Less pig out sessions! Lose weight! Walk, walk, walk!

6. What will you not be doing in '08?
NOT to be too sheltered anymore... I will try. :)

7. Any trips planned?
- Work: Annual US trip, Gen San on March... maybe Zambo na rin
- Personal: Occassional Cebu trips (I really miss my hometown!), hopefully in Bantayan Island or Boracay with friends, Guam to visit Shara (thanks to my miles! haha)

8. Wedding plans?
Not on my mind yet. Planning to get married in my late 20's pa. I'm still 22. haha. :)

9. Major thing on your calendar?
Hmmm.... Major thing(s) would be the dates which would fall on long weekends. Para rest from the stressful life of work.

10. What can’t you wait for?
Christmas. I always look forward to Santa Claus, Frosty, & Rudolph!

11. What would you like to see happen different?
A less emotional, more rational and more confident Angel. Hehe.

12. What about yourself will you be changing?
Eating habits, Spending habits, and "Scratching my head" habit. haha.

13. What something that might happen and you would not like to happen in 2008?
Hmm.. I decide to keep this to myself. hehe ;)

I will give more efforts to see my friends when they want to meet up. This is a self-made promise.

I will CONTINUE drinking and start drinking MORE. haha.

Yes, at the end of the day, they are still my family... I'm pretty happy and contented with my current relationship with my family.

18. Will you do Volunteer work?
I want to do GK, but I just don't have someone to join me. I need some GK friends! :)

20. Do you expect '08 to be a good year for you?
I hope it'll be a better year for me, career wise.

22. Do you plan on having a child?
Not yet. Marriage first.

23. Will you still be friends with the same people you are friends with now?
Yes... But it won't hurt if I expand my social circle, right?

24. Major lifestyle changes?
Spend more time with friends. Catch up on missed times... :)

25. Will you be moving?
Depends if Dad moves back to Cebu. But I prefer to stay in Ortigas. It's MY home. :)

Not to be scared with my boss anymore haha.

27. What are your New Years Eve plans?
Spend time with family.

Why is everyone more excited than me?

It's so funny how everyone in my family is more excited than I am in my upcoming trip this weekend. A few instances showing their immense excitement:

1. My dad texting me two days ago, " Gel, what's the size of your laptop? 15. 4 inches ba? I'm looking at a laptop bag right now!"
2. My tita (take note, my tita fairy aunt hehe) giving me a full make over at Salon Esa (complete with hair treatment, haircut... the works! And to think I just got my hair treated last week. haha!)
3. My dad (again) getting me a credit card extension to buy him VITAMINS. wahahahaha =))
4. My mom lending me her pair of black shoes (because mine already "split into half" haha)
5. My brother calling me more often lately to keep posted on the updates of my trip

And this one's actually the winner:

A late afternoon to late night session from my Tita on the following topics: How to pack light, how to plan your attire, things to bring for the trip, how to keep valuables in the safe, how to struggle with my forgetfulness, how to bring the suitcase properly, how to wear the coat properly, and most of all..... How to do my make-up and look more "business-like". wahaha. And we stayed up until 1:30 AM last night to check how I can blow dry my hair properly.... What an aunt! hahahaha=)

On the other hand, I also got a bit of "scolding" from her such as:

"Yung buhok mo parang helmet. Ipagupit na natin yan!"
"Ang baduy mo!"
"Para kang bata sa look mo. Hindi ka paniniwalaan ng buyers mo!"
"Dapat lagyan mo ng "whiskers" yung buhok niya (to the stylist). Hindi ko alam bat di naniniwala ito (addressed to me) sa 'kin!"
"Kasi, pa-rebond rebond pa ng buhok. Hindi ka na bata!"
"Isulat mo lahat ng kelangan mong dalhin! Makalimutin ka pa naman! I-highlight mo!"

It's kinda irritating, but at the end of the day, she's my single (emphasis on the single= walang anak) aunt. I've been her "lab rat/barbie doll" since I was a kid (imagine, giving me a make-over back in 5th Grade... huwaaaaattt?!?!). Even if she makes me her living barbie doll, I still love her for being my carinyo brutal Tita.... And I still do get perks despite of these all. hehe =)

"Kering-keri ko to..." (my tita actually sang this song while blow drying my hair! haha!)

Shoes Miyo!

I looked through all my shoes last night and found that almost half of them are on the verge of breaking down. The sole of my black peep-toe shoes (which I bought in SM for about 300 bucks!) already gave way and broke into half. My patent brown flats (aka my walking shoes) are about to be ripped, not to mention that the patent doesn't seem so patent anymore (ie., natatanggal na ang balat ng "patentness" niya hehe). My silver Schus are in a similar situation as my patent brown flats, also in a state of losing it's "shine", for this case.

It doesn't really help that all of these shoes are my favorite ones.

Shoes Miyo! Shoes ko 'Day!

Fustration!

Just when I thought I would be looking forward to something on our upcoming business trip, I am again in a state of shock to find out from various websites (the official ones!) that the malls (as in ALL 8 of them) at our nearby hotel will be closed on Sundays. GGGRRRRR.......

This will definitely be a "formal" trip then... *shivers*

(Mis)adventures of Angel in the Workplace

Scene 1:

*Angel and boss discussing office-related matters*

All of a sudden....

Boss: Parang gumaganda ka ngayon ah... (bola manner)
Angel: Talaga? Tumataba nga ako eh!

HUWAAAAATTTTT?!?!?!?!?! Wala man lang "Thanks Sir!". Feeling ko talaga. haha!

Scene 2:

*Angel types, writes emails and chats*

All of a sudden....

*BROWNOUT*

Sabay sigaw at taas ng aking mga kamay sa screen, takot na baka mag-off ang PC ko....

BUT.....

Naka LAPTOP pala ako.

Tuloy, napagtawanan ng mga officemates.... :-) :-) :-)

And all of these happened 2 hours ago.

What a life!

Haaayyy... Sana hindi ito mangyari sa inyo. Nakakaloka! haha =)

The J. Lo Factor

I think I haven't been this much jologs in my entire life. A few J LO incidences in the past month:

1. Watching Primetime bida from Monday to Thursday (no fail talaga!), beginning from Ysabella (although not a really big fan of it) to Which Star are You From!
2. Having Kering-Keri, Makulay ang Buhay, and Lucky Me! as top of mind songs when asked about today's latest hits
3. Singing "Halik" all of a sudden while working (SHET! haha.)
4. Talking about Big Brother or Deal or No Deal first thing in the morning with my officemates
5. Voted for the PBB Big 4
6. Searched for "Wendy Valdez, Gee-Ann Abrahan, Mickey Perz, and PBB Season2" in wikipedia
7. Visits http://getitfromboy.blogspot.com/ every other day for updated chismis (just in case I missed watching The Buzz)
8. Knows the "adobo burger" and "grilled burger" actions

There are actually a few more J Lo instances but I don't want to further elaborate on them. Haha. Anyway, I have to stop here, Which Star are you From is now on air. haha. :-)

Happy Week

Contrary to my expectations, I very much enjoyed this week due to the following reasons:

  • New Laptop = After almost two months of waiting, we finally got our laptaps from the office. In fairness, it's an intel pentium dual core laptop with wifi, bluetooth, memory card reader and dvd rom! I'm happy not only because I can already be mobile when it comes to work, but being the internet freak that I am, I could also surf anywhere I want to now. :) haha. My one year at the office has finally paid off (I guess so.:D)
  • Transformers! = Believe it or not, I really really enjoyed watching this movie twice-- yes, we watched it in the moviehouse twice! haha. I love everything about Bumblebee. He's like a guy's barbie in real life (huwat?!) I will definitely watch it another time in dvd. :)
  • Reunions = This week is more of a family week because I got the chance to bond with my cousins in different instances. This rarely happens nowadays as we haven't had much reunions lately, but I'm glad to say that once in a while I get to really bond with my cousins. :) Hope this happens more often!
  • Cheesecake from our Cheesy Boss = It was touching (for me and for the whole team) to receive a whole cheesecake from our boss. He had a little note on it: "Thanks for being part of my team." I feel more motivated to see that my boss is happy with our performace. At least we know that we're right on track and that he is there to support us. I wish he does not get back on his bad mood moments... I'm praying for that!
  • ... And Other Good Things at Work ;) = We were advised this week that we will most likely be having travels abroad during the 2nd half of the year. As my boss could not decide where to bring me, he gave me 3 possible places where I could go for 2007: US, Taiwan, or Japan. Don't ask me why, but I'm really looking forward to experiencing all these travels for work. I would like to know how different it is if you're travelling for leisure and for work. Although we have had our own share of domestic travels, it'll definitely be more tiring and exhausting with international trips coming our way... Can't wait. :)

I hope next week will be a better week for me. *crosses fingers! :)*

Office Birthday

Time does fly really fast.

Tomorrow, June 16, I commemorate my first year in the office. I can't believe how much I've been through in my first year at work! Truly a roller coaster ride, a 360 degree shift especially for a girl like me with ZERO percent background of export sales and marketing. (For those who don't know, I'm a communications graduate working at the export sales department... where's the connection? hehe) A few important things I learned in the past year:

1. Don't believe you know EVERYTHING. When I stepped out of college, I felt like I was superman (or super girl), ready and set to conquer the world. I thought I knew enough things for me to say that people should listen to me, but I was wrong. When I started working, it was as if I was back in school, learning more and more things that I could not get from the four walls of the classroom.

2. NUMBERS matter. It's easy to come up with ideas, but hard to justify if you don't have numbers to support it.

3. "Go lang nang go". As cliche as it may sound, I learned how to keep my determination going and going. To get through problems at work, you have to face it and learn to toughen yourself and be determined to stand up for your problems. I realized that in order for me to get to where I want to be, I should never give up. Go lang talaga nang go.

4. There will always be Sh*tty days. Truly a fact of life. That's why it's also important to take note of my no. 5 learning....

5. Make sure to have time for your loved ones. They can be your refuge after a long day at work. They make sure you keep your sanity intact.

6. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, just make sure that you learn from them. My boss actually encourages me to make mistakes in my first two years at work. You might think, "what a boss!", right? But he actually makes sense. If you don't make mistakes, you won't realize the gravity of those certain things because it won't stick in your mind... That's why you just have to make sure that you learn from them.:)

And last but not the least....

6. Never get in a job just because you have no other option or just because you're "pressured". It's important to think through your offers and make sure that this is what you really want. Don't think that this is the only opportunity you have and that if you miss this opportunity, it will be doomsday for you. At the end of the day, you will still be the one to face the consequences of your decisions.

Happy office birthday to me! :)

Grade School, oh Grade School...

Laugh trip. Thanks, Diane! :)

Can you name 13 of your classmates in ELEMENTARY that you can think of right off the top of your head. Don't read the questions underneath until you've written the names of all 13 people.

This is a lot funnier if you actually randomly list the names first. No Cheating!

1. Rosette
2. Mads
3. Armando
4. Ron
5. Berry
6. Karlo
7. Mary
8. Jocelyn
9. Louie
10. Rey
11. Pamela
12. Anya
13. Czarina

How did you meet 10? (Rey L.)
He was my classmate in St. Ben. I remember how he would always have a hanky on his table because he had really sweaty hands. hehe. :)

What would you do/what would happen if you had never met 1? (Rosette S.)
I didn't have a confidante for all my boy crushes back in grade 3! haha! I remember she was also as kikay as me eh! :)

What would you do if 6 and 2 date? (Karlo D. and Mads C.)
That would be weird. Mads was a really tall girl and Karlo... hmm hindi masyado siya kataasan. hehe. :)

Have you ever seen 4 cry? (Ron T.)
NO! But he sure did tease me a lot back in Grade School!

Do you think 10 is cute? (Rey L.)
Yes, he was cute... as in small-cute. haha sama ko. But he's really a smart ass I tell you! :)

How did you get to know 3? (Armando V.)
He was my real-life Aladdin, in the flesh! Haha. He was my ultimate crush in grade school! haha!

What's 7's Favorite color? (Mary L.)
Shucks, I don't know!

What would you do if 5 confessed he/she loved you? (Berry S.)
She was my best friend in Grade 6. Of course she loved me! hehe! :)

Fact about 9: (Louie T.)
He's a cute kid with 2 sisters... Safe! haha!

Who is 4 going out with? (Ron T.)
Lots of girls. Haha! He seems to be happy with his current situation. :)

What is number 5 to you? (Berry S.)
One of my grade school best friends. We almost had the same things.. kaya ako nainis because I thought she was such a copycat. How immature! I regret having those feelings back in GS! haha!

Would you ever live with 13? (Czarina F.)
Why not? Last time I saw her was back in Grade 4. grabe tagal na!

Is 2 single? (Mads C.)
Hmm.... I think she still is. :)

Where does 7 live? (Mary L.)
I knew she stayed in Eliazo in college. I don't know where she lives now.. For sure, she has a house in Davao! haha labo.

What do you think about 12? (Anya D.)
She was one of the reasons why I didn't want to transfer to Cebu. She was a really really great friend in St. Paul. :)

What's the best thing about 8? (Jocelyn)
She was a really fun seatmate...

Who is 11 to you? (Pam E.)
This really smart girl who doesn't speak Tagalog or Bisaya. English speaking itech! haha.

Favorite Memory with 1? (Rosette S.)
Going around school and giggling because of our crushes. haha!

Pamamalengke!

Hanggang sa susunod na kabanata. =)

Opposites.

Ever been in a situation where you SOOOOOO want to go out but end up not being able to go out at all? And when you do not want to go out (or just plan of staying at home and watch dvds at night), that's when all your friends invite you to go out on a gimik?

Hell yeah, it happens to me most of the time.

Tonight is a perfect example of the above situation.

A Cebu Piss-ific Incident

They said it's time every JUAN flies. I say, "It's time SOME JUAN dies."

Yes, my last trip with CP (i don't want this entry to be googleable hehe) was HELL. I guess you get every cent's worth of the cheap plane fair you paid (BUT STILL...)

I was very excited to go home for the long weekend. I wanted to take PAL to get more mileage, but I couldn't make it to their last flight which would leave at 7:30 PM. I had no choice but to take the last flight out of Manila to Cebu, which was CP's departing at 9:15PM.

BUT LOW AND BEHOLD... It was almost 9:15 PM and we still were not boarding the plane. I always thought CP's competitive advantage over the other airlines would be their ON-TIME FLIGHTS. Unfortunately, due to some unknown problem, I had to wait for another 15-30 minutes before I could board the plane. (And to think they didn't even give any notice prior to this just so we know we won't be leaving on time, right?!)

And I thought my Piss-ific moment would end there. When we were halfway to Cebu, for some reason, the turbulence was not the normal turbulence you would experience with PAL. It was so scary to just feel the plane as if it was on vibrator mode or something. hehe. And as I looked through the window, it seemed as if our speed was faster than the usual... True enough, our landing proved me right. It felt like the front wheel bounced from the air to the landing because our speed was too fast. Even the foreigner in front of us said the same thing. TERRIBLE WAY TO BEGIN MY LONG WEEKEND.

Now the piss of all pisses is about to happen... As I got in the airport to check in for my flight back to Manila... Goodness gracious great balls of fire! Flight 5J 570-- my flight-- was cancelled! The next flight won't leave til 9:15 PM! HUWAT?!?! I had no choice but to go back home first and rest (I had a really terrible headache on that same moment). After about 4 hours of waiting, I find out that our flight is delayed for another hour. Grabe. PARUSA (punishment). We weren't able to leave Cebu until 10:45 PM. To make the long story short, I got home at 1 AM... And I had work the next day. A CRAPPY WAY TO BEGIN MY WEEK.

... On the bright side though, the 5 hour wait was kinda worth it. I got a free one-way ticket to any domestic destination of my choice.. And that I got thanks to my being "kapal muks". I went to the counter and demanded for one because of the inconveniences the flight has caused me. I'm glad that my charms worked. hee hee. :)

MY RECO: Don't ever rely on their ads that they're on time and yada-yada. I guess they were just being true to the fact that with their crappy service and cheap prices , "every juan can now fly with CP". In short, you really just get your money's worth. :)

Simple Surprise. Awww...

Wow, I haven't written in a while! Aside from not having a topic to write about, I just get really lazy at times to type my thoughts after a long day at work. hehe.

I just can't help but write about my boyfriend tonight (hence the sudden effort to type despite being really sleepy! :) ) . Lately, he has been a really, really good boyfriend and I love him for being one!!! :) He has shown me how he is willing to sacrifice a lot of things just for the sake of love .=) (yuck cheesy!)

Anyway, I've been in cloud 9 for the past 3 hours because he gave me an unexpected surprise. I have done all my best (I tell you... super nagger ako! haha!) to convince him to cut his long, curly, unruly hair, but have not been successful in convincing him to do so. But who would've thought that he would get his haircut tonight?! WOWEE! I even got really pissed at him because he did not fully elaborate on where he was going and the people he will be with tonight. Most of all, he has rejected about 3 of my calls tonight. Kaasar! haha!

I was already getting really pissed at him when 30 minutes after my unsuccessful calls, my phone rings, it's him! HAHA. He asked me if I received any MMS from him (how weird can that get?!), and I was like, "Duh, NO!". It even made me wonder what was in the MMS. Was it a picture that was proof that he's in a safe place with his pals? Or was it a picture of him having loads of fun with his friends? Temper up. hehe.

I never did get that MMS, but I was happier to hear what that MMS contained. "Sige na nga, I'll tell you what's in that picture... I cut my hair! I'll be in your place in 10 minutes so that you can see my new look." Grabe. To the nth level. I couldn't take it. I was ALMOST in tears. I was so touched! I did not expect that he would cut his hair already. Not now!

But then with my hot head at that time, my reaction was, "Why? Why did you cut your hair? HUWAT?!" haha. And then he just said the sweetest thing in the whole world. "I did it for you, because I love you!" Cheesy!!! Haha. He sure beats Freddie Prinze Jr. on the "sweetness" category! HAHA.

When he got to my place, I already knew why he wanted to visit me-- to take pictures of his new look (that's why he's my boyfriend, he can be a photographer/fellow-camera-whore! hehe) Here's a before and after picture of him:

Isn't he more adorable now?! At least he really looks like he's 25 years old now! haha! Kidding:)

I wish he'd give me more surprises in the future! Definitely looking forward to them:)

And to pups, super thank you! You definitely ROCK my world. Besos! :)

Jealousy Oh Jealousy!

Pardon for not being able to blog for the longest time...

Aside from not having the convenience to do so as before (due to my dad's tendencies to make our PC his "second home"), despite the so, so many happenings in my life I end up not thinking of a specific thing to write about. But now that my creative and rational juices are coming out of its shell, I'm taking the opportunity to bash, splash (HAHA!), and crash my drama in life.

Just for an update (para makuha niyo kung bakit ganito ang entry ko ngayon), I am officially with someone (ie, attached, may boyfriend, in a relationship, in love... whatever you call it) for more than a month now. It's been ONE HECK of a rollercoaster life for me, having BLOGGED that "I am not ready for a relationship" or "I'm doomed to be single for life" to being... umm.. yes, IN LOVE. :-)

I am VERY PROUD to say that I am in love with an absolutely GREAT guy, complete with the whole "Mr. Pringles" package. He's adorable, huggable, and what's most important, he respects me for who I am. I guess the 20-year wait was worth it because God sure didn't fail me on this guy..... Oh, and what's funny... I am in love with a puppy (well, his name in Cebuano literally means puppy. haha)

... And now we go to the jealousy part. Call me a jealous, possessive girlfriend, but there are just a few few things that just pinches my heart when I hear him talking about someone (let's just call her "Jackie"). A few reasons why:

1. Jackie can be with him more than I could (ie, proximity issues... go figure)
2. Jackie and Mr. Pringles have more things in common (they share the same passion for one certain hobby (not specifying!!)
3. Jackie belongs to Mr. Pringle's circle of friends
4. ... something about Mr. Pringle's past that haunts me til this day!
5. Mr. Pringles has the tendency to occasionally bring up Jackie in our conversations

Other LAME reasons:
1. He has more pictures of her in his palm/celphone
2. Her gifts mean a lot to him (since it's inclined to his interests)
3. SHE is just too damn special to him (in my opinion, okay?)

It's not that I don't trust my boyfriend, there are just certain things about Jackie that makes me feel insecure about myself. I know she's a great girl, and the thought that with these instances around something MIGHT come out of it just hurts. My Dr. Love is right in saying that I should not feel this way but.... GOD, it has just bothered me lately.

I already told him about my insecurities, and I know these things hurt him too. The thing is, if I tell him these things, it would come out as if I DON'T TRUST HIM. It's as if HE IS MOST LIKELY PRONE of hurting me.... (but don't worry, things are okay between me and him:D)

And now I ask... How will I push away these feelings?

HOW????????????? :-(
