Because I'm a Workaholic

Yes, admittedly, I have been working non-stop since the 4th quarter of the year has started (well, it really started last September haha!). It's crazy-- with all the late nights at the office, working lunches, planning sessions, and various sales & marketing strategies at play. I find myself ironic for being such a nagger that "I'm stressed and sh*t" but still "enjoy" the stress... Call me a masochist, but there is just something about the rush that work brings me, be it a good one or not.

I'm at the point of my career wherein I can say, "I love/hate my job!". I love/hate it because of the challenge it brings. Like what I told Bert earlier, it feels good to close a deal, especially if it's something that you know you worked hard for. On the other hand, it's amazing to be able to relate my work to Chess (haha, extreme segue)... Believe it or not, playing chess has helped me in my negotiating skills... To know how to anticipate and foresee the next move of your opponent, in our case, our buyers.

Of course there are unfortunate moments, eg. committing MAJOR mistakes like misquoting offers, etc. but I guess all of these have to happen mainly because it brings you back to reality... That there is always room for improvement... That when you get a major "career-related" fall, there is no way but to go up and get back on track. I've had my own share of this 3 weeks ago, and boy was it CRAZY! It really made me realize how much I need to get back on track and work to regain what has been "lost" with that mistake!!

And there's the fun part of course. Lately, there has been a lot of bonding moments with our other co-workers (from other departments) which makes office life a tad bit more enjoyable. :-) At least there is life beyond the four walls of our workplace.

Oh well, I think this is just a caffeine overdose but yeah... I'm a workaholic, I guess. I'm not proud to be one, but I think I'm okay with this kind of set-up for now. Haha. Labo, as always.

So Much for our Theory

Last July, I had an entry about this attempt of Rissee and I to prove the Exposure theory.

At one point it really works-- IF you don't assume. But the thing is, if you "expose" yourself too much, you can't help but assume SOMETIMES since there is so much interaction going on. The challenge lies more on the fighting your feelings by not assuming more than the "exposure" aspect.

My verdict after three months... Well, the Exposure Theory WORKS... Just NO ASSUMPTIONS, please. :o)

AND WHO WILL EVER FORGET OH GEORG?!!?!? :) It's my most favorite cake shop in the whole wide world of the Philippines (hehe). The caramel almond tart is just heavenly. *drools*

It's really about time for me to schedule this much-needed long weekend break. I am terribly missing Cebu. Tara, uwi tayo :-)

- Starbucks Coffee (will forever give me an adrenalin rush!)

My approved leave! Woohoo.... I'll be out and about this November. Can't wait. :P

Badminton Rush

Lately, I started playing badminton with my officemates. It feels really good to play badminton, even if I have only won once after playing about 10 times already. Haha. There just seems to be some sort-of euphoria everytime I hit the shuttlecock (or not). :-)

What makes it more fun in my case is that I get tired not only because of chasing after the "cock" but also because of the light tone we have during our games. We can't help but squeeze in a few laughs while playing. May it be some missed shots or just plain silly poses, the laughter just keeps on coming.

And then there's the Jollibee sessions. It feels great how you start getting to know your colleagues over Fries & Gravy. We talk about anything under the sun! From commercials to movies, from the 7th to the 19th floor... It's one fun and exhausting Thursday night for me. :-)

I hope to join them more often lately though... Been missing the games because they started holding it on Fridays... Hmpf. I hope they re-schedule it to Thursday. :-D

Exposure Theory

Rissee and I have been in close contact for the past two weeks. I really miss Ms. Catindig, so once in a while we would have our regular 30-minute chit-chat sessions over the phone.


In one of our "colorful" conversations, we were talking about boys (as if this is new hehe). We came up with what Rissee would like to call "EXPOSURE THEORY" (i love you for this one, Ris!).

In a nutshell, exposure theory is to basically expose oneself to the person you fancy so you don't end up totally falling for that person... And to expose here means to have continuous communication and connection to the person you like. Main condition for the exposure theory to be effective? Never assume. Do not assume that exposure results to love. Just go with the flow and let things be...

Well, it may be easier said than done but I think it has been a pretty effective theory for some people I know, right Ris? hehe ;)

Summer: My Favorite Season!

It was not only until last week when I realized that summer's fast approaching, and I can't help but get excited about the sun and the heat! haha. :-)

I really don't have anything in mind for this summer, but I'm hoping (a 75-80% probability of happening) to do these things:

- Spend time with my family (complete with my Kuya!!) anywhere in the Philippines... I won't mind staying at home so long as we're all complete!
- Take a long weekend vacation to Cebu and spend time with my friends (April 18 girls. It's a date!)
- Get a good tan line (yes, I like showing off tan lines! Eeeww for some but Aaaww for me! hehe)
- Hang out at wawa's poolside (this I definitely need to schedule as soon as my cough is A-OK!)
- Definitely go on a beach trip (Kahit saan, kahit kailan, basta't ang mga kasama, maasahan! haha. Sana may magplan naman diyan... hehe)
- Get new shades... Now I have every reason to spend on this little luho of mine! haha!

I also can't wait for Yeni to come over to Manila this May (probably the rest of the girls will be coming over too.. now that's more exciting!). I can't wait to take her around Manila, visit all the malls accessible through MRT, and do some hunting, I mean shopping the whole Saturday (haha, oops Yeni can't go hunting with me anymore pala! hahaha!). But seriously, if Yeni comes she should spend one weekend in my house and I will promise to treat her like a princess! haha. :-)

Ay basta... Note to self: MAKE SURE SUMMER WILL BE A LOT OF FUN! :-) I have a big feeling it will be. :-)

New Toy!





My New Toy!


I got my ipod nano video last Monday and boy do I love it! I bought the 8GB pink nano and I am enjoying it a lot! I uploaded songs from Kuya RJ's collection which are great by the way, except for some songs from Cueshe and Hotdog hahaha! I spent the whole day listening to some good songs from Dave Matthews Band, Plumb, Jason Mraz, Bic Runga, Lit, and Fastball that brought me back to my high school days. haha. What a great way to reminisce the happy, happy, moments! Although I wish to also get hold of some pop songs like songs from Toni Gonzaga, Hanson, Spice Girls, Carol Banawa, Pussycat Dolls, & BSB so that I could listen to the "catchy tunes" the whole morning and have an LSS for the rest of the week... haha! Mas jologs pa pala ako kay Kuya RJ.



I'm also enjoying the games, especially the Music and TV show trivia. It's perfect! I just wish they had a general knowledge quiz. That would've been a lot more fun! I'm also definitely downloading more games like Bejeweled and hopefully, ZUMA.... haha, Addict?!?!:)



Nevertheless, I'm really happy I finally decided to get a nano. It's the first gadget I ever bought with my own hard-earned money! Never realized buying something like this would be an instant feel-good purchase! I'm loving it! :-)



But on the other hand, this means another year of saving for me. Well that's if I can survive the rest of the year without splurging on shoes and clothes. HAHAHA :-)

Catch Me, I'm Falling!

*Tagalog Mode... Akala niyo kung anong entry, no?!?! haha.*



Tuwang-tuwa ako nang makita ko ang isa sa aking idolo sa kanyang kauna-unahang major concert. Matagal naming inabangan ng aking pinakamatalik na kaibigan ang kanyang pagningning sa entablado ng ALIW theater noong Sabado. Disyembre pa lamang ay nakaplano na ang aming pagpunta! Wala kaming pakialam kung magkano abutin ang ticket, pero dahil kakampi namin ang tadhana, napalaran kami ng grasya at nabiyayaan ng libreng tickets... sa 4th row pa! Aba, VIP?!?! :)


Simula pa lamang ng palabas ay nakakatindig-balahibo na. Akalain mo ba naman, naka-harness ang aming idolo! Nakakatakot, baka mahulog nga talaga siya. Baka mapasigaw siya, "Catch me, I'm falling for you!" Haha corny.
Bigay na bigay si Toni! Ibang lebel! Sayaw dito, sayaw doon, rampa dito rampa doon, at shempre, birit dito, birit doon! Hay nako, nakakaloka. Pero in fairness, ang seksi seksi ni Toni. Ang ganda talaga niya. Gwapo rin kasi ang isa niyang special guest, si Sam Milby. Bakit kasi hindi pa sila nagkatuluyan?!?!?! Pero ok lang, mas gwapo rin naman si Direk Paul... haha.


At feel na feel rin ng mga mananayaw ni Toni! Nakakatawa sila tingnan. Hindi nagpapatalo sa bituin, nag-harness rin sa ibang sayaw. Haha.


Pero shempre, pinakapaborito namin ang huling kanta ni Toni. Kilig na kilig ako nang marinig ko ang intro pa lang ng kanta. Hindi ko mailagay sa salita ang tibok ng aking puso nang itinugtog ang "Catch Me"... At shempre, dahil chismosa ang lola niyo, sabay tingin ako sa gilid dahil nandun si Direk Paul. Halatang halata na kilig na kilig rin siya! Wow! Damang-dama ko ang kakiligan ni Direk! hahaha. :-)



But seriously (English mode), the concert was unexpectedly good. Toni is so underrated. She can match the voice of the champions! Actually a lot better than the champions, considering that she is a total performer-- can sing, dance, act, and even host! She truly deserved this big night. Congrats, Toni G.! :-)

February na talaga....

The sweetest thing happened in Powerplant Cinema 6 this afternoon. Somebody proposed in the moviehouse!!! Waahhh.

It was so cute. While the usual trailers were shown, there was an "unusual" trailer shown all of a sudden in the tune of "Collide". Next thing I knew, cameras started shooting at Dan & Trina (feeling close!) and a wireless microphone was already given to Dan. Dan then shows Trina her soon to be engagement ring and asks for her hand... Of course, Trina said yes! Everybody in the moviehouse was clapping and cheering for them. They sealed the engagement with a kiss. After a few minutes, everybody enjoyed watching 27 Dresses, which was also a feel-good movie.

Howe sweet... Makes me realize na February na talaga.... :-) Love is in the air!

Happy Weekend!

I spent quite a good Friday, Saturday, & Sunday with family and friends. :)

Friday night was Amici Night with the Front row girls & the Cool geeks. It was such a fun fun night as I haven't seen a lot of these folks for a long time. Highlight of the night was Arthur's total transformation.. Such a hottie already! Haha. I posted some photos in my multiply.. Check it out!!

On Saturday I spent the whole day at my Tito's house in Paranaque. Paranaque is like another world for me. It reminded me of my childhood days when we used to live in Lopez Village. The south is so much fun now, with all these establishments sprouting like mushrooms all over. I had a lot of fun playing with my nephews and nieces... They're so adorable!!! I was in a lot of panic when my nephew started getting near the electric fan, his hand might get caught in the fan! Waahh.. I am so not ready to be a mom. hahaha. :-)


Saturday night was movie night and Metrowalk night. I had a great time watching National Treasure 2! Although I wasn't really so much into the sequel as compared to the first movie, it was still a lot of fun watching the clues unravel one by one for another time. I was shouting a lot in the first half of the movie. Haha:) We had some drinks (and food more importantly) in Metrowalk afterwards, but I think all of us were quite sleepy that time so there wasn't much talking. haha.... But it was all cool. Good night pa rin shempre :)


Sunday was WAWA day! I treated my family & wawa to movies (Dad at Alien vs. Predator, the rest of us at P.S. I Love You) and late lunch at Cibo. :) Mom and wawa were crying during the movie... It wasn't actually quite bad as I expected it to be. It's about letting go and moving on with life after you "lose" somebody. I super love my wawa to death! I'm really looking forward to our Intramuros tour!!! :-)


After movies in Powerplant, I spent the whole late afternoon & evening watching Heroes season 1. Haha. Milo is so cute. But he was still a lot cuter in Gilmore Girls. Haha. :-) I also watched Sydney White. There's a really cute and cheesy scene in the movie where the "prince" sings for Sydney in the library... Kilig naman ang lola niyo. haha. :-)


I'm really hoping for a good week to come, although I'm quite scared that it won't be a good one at work... Praying really hard that the week would start off really well!!

Silence.

I'm not really a big fan of silence. Heck, I don't even like being silent! I normally find it weird when I don't get to stir up a conversation during study sessions or "chill coffee nights" back in college. But for some reason, I just want to shut up tonight, not watch TV, contemplate, and think..... Think of the things that had been, that are, and the things that will be.

I think I'll be appreciating silence more often now. :)

Who is Betty Go-Belmonte?

Kai and I rode the LRT 2 last weekend and passed by the Betty Go-Belmonte station... I asked Kai how odd the name of the station was, then she told me she knew who BGB was because of me... And I was like, "What?! I shared to you who she was?" Apparently, I sent an email about BGB to our chorale yahoogroups about 2 years ago and I obviously didn't remember it, so I searched for that message in my gmail. When I read it, it sounded really funny and informative, so I decided to share it with you guys. =)

Good vibes, Good week

I woke up this morning with a big smile on my face. :D

I don't know if it was due to the closet make-over I'm currently working on (I have already color coordinated the arrangement of my skirts and tops haha), or the excessive impusive shopping tendencies I had over the whole week (or baka sinapian na ako ng multo? haha joke!), but I'm definitely feeling a lot of good vibes to come this week.

When I got to work, I continued spreading the joy, even if I was 2minutes late! My officemate wondered why I had a big big smile on my face when I got to work. I told her, "Actually, hindi ko rin alam kung bakit. Masaya lang talaga ako!". On YM Radio, I was listening to Pop Valentine station, where the likes of BSB, Britney, & Beyonce were played. It continued to perk me up a little more as they reminded me of the fun, fun Pop culture back in high school. haha. :-)
I also looked for the schedules of the Intramuros tour so that I could already plan to go with Lola. I'm excited! I'm happy! :-)

Tomorrow though, dad's coming back from Cebu, so it means a 50% shift of the new 2008 lifestyle. On the other hand, I'm still happy to have my dad back home because I miss him too, but at the same time, I'll miss being "more" independent without his presence. Well at least, I'll have an instant Sunday movie buddy again! Now, I don't have any reason to miss my favorite movies... Too bad, I still don't have a movie buddy for National Treasure 2.:-)

Coffee Rush

It's 1:30 AM and I'm still up. I just had coffee about 2 hours ago, and the effect is still very strong.... I kind of need the coffee rush as I am finishing my PPEI for tomorrow... Can't wait to have this done and over with, neither can't I wait for the week to finally end tomorrow!

Well, this week has been a pretty tough one.I had a lot of things in mind during this week.... But I think I'm okay. I'm going to be okay!!! :)

This week I met up with a lot of my friends. Been talking to them as well, and I'm glad that they spare a bit of their time for my rants and emo moments. Thank God for friends whom you can call or message anytime, anywhere of the day especially in times of need. I couldn't be any luckier.:)

I have nothing definite planned for tomorrow evening, but I'm hoping to watch a movie with a fellow Bisaya friend tomorrow night. It's either we watch a movie or we drink the night a way. Whatever makes us happy. Now I'm thinking of other people to invite tomorrow.... Haha.

I'm going to visit Itoy's grandaunt this Saturday to pay my respects. I'm quite sad with the incident, and I hope things will be better soon. Plus I'm getting a haircut on the afternoon. My soon-to-be new hair excites me.

Next week is another week to tackle.... Let's continue to hope for better things!

PPEI at Work

We're going to have this sort-of PPEI at work weekly, so that's 1 presentation for me every month as there are 4 presentors all-in-all. I'm going to be the first presentor, and I had to submit my topic today, along with the assignments of my colleagues who will serve as my panel.

I had a dilemma on which topic to talk about. I was either contemplating on the Spice Girls or Primetime TV: Kapuso vs. Kapamilya. I ended up choosing the former... Sobrang jologs ko na ata if I talk about Lastikman or Marimar. I assigned 1 colleague to be the Spice Girls enthusiast, while the other two would be the ANTI- Spice Girls/90's music.

The presentation is on Friday morning. I'm excited/scared! Brings me back to our Business Comm days. Hahaha!!!! Kakaaliw talaga.

Wish me luck! Now, I'm going to immerse myself into the Spice World & Girl Power once again. WOOHOO!

New Year, New Life, New Beginning

A few things I have in mind for 2008:

1. Fix my room- I always start fixing my room but it's a neverending cycle
2. Fix my expenses- Take note of daily expenses (I aim to start this Feb!), make a budget, and probably open a new account
3. Learn how to cook and spend more time in the kitchen
4. Have piano lessons once again
5. Explore Old Manila & take Carlos Celdran's Intramuros tour (This I have to do with Wawa:D)
6. Pay for more bills at home
7. Read more current events
8. Get more background on economics, statistics, accounting, & finance (so not me)
9. Try out a new sport (boxing or badminton would do).. Or maybe go to the gym and exercise!
10. Walk more
11. Commute more
12. Take Kumon classes (if the company will shoulder it hehe)
13. Go on a vacation with friends
14. Hang out more with friends
15. Be more simple (less frills, more basics)
16. Write more often to release emotions
17. Be more spontaneous
18. Be more pro-active
19. Read more books (as if)
20. Give back more to society & the less privileged (I know, cliche!)
21. Be a better daughter and sister.

I honestly doubt if I can do all of this. Then I guess I'm no. 3- The one with the will but does not end up doing things.

4 Kinds of People

I feel like writing again. It's been a while since I had the urge to. I guess these mixed emotions give me every reason why I should write, right? Or maybe there is just something about this day. Oh well. I hope I will always have these "I feel like writing in my blog" moments more often.

I learned a lot today. My boss talked to us earlier about Forex, Statistics (God, I'm so clueless with all these foreign terms.. He even asked us the diff. between variance & standard deviation... Nosebleed!), & preparing Presentations for clients (this I think I may do better. :D). He shared something which was pretty simple but true. He said that there are only 4 kinds of people in the world. These are:

1. The ones who have the will to do it and do it
2. The ones who have the will to do it but end up not doing it
3. The ones who do not have the will to do it yet do it
4. The ones who do not have the will to do it and end up not doing it

And he asked us, who are you among these 4 people? It made me think of my decisions & actions lately. I hope I'm more of no. 1, but being no. 3 is also quite interesting, if you don't prioritize your happiness over your needs.

Now, who are you among these 4 kinds of people?
